We are the Bargaining Unit with the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Union City, Tennessee. We make Tires for Goodyear. Many new lines of tires have been first made in Union City! We also have an Amalgamated Unit with "American Food and Vending Company" who services all the cafeterias and break areas at the Goodyear plant in Union City, Tennessee.

       

We make Tires!

Raw materials and chemicals are brought into the plant through receiving which stores these items until use. The Banburies take the raw materials and chemicals and process them into various treatments of synthetic rubber. In Stock Prep, this synthetic rubber is made into various components which is used to make up the construction of a tire. The components are assembled through a process called tirebuilding. The "green tire" is then taken to a curing press that cures the assembled tire into what you know today as the cured "tire". In Final Finish, the newly cured tire is taken through various quality checks to make sure it is of the highest quality. After the tire is checked it is labled and sent to the shipping department. There are many processes we go through which make up the construction of a tire and each step is outlined by quality quidelines. Making tires is our job and it is what we do.
